The role of Youth and Women in Social Dialogue highlighted during the SOLiD Regional Seminar on Economic & Social Issues

In the framework of the SOLiD project the Arab NGO Network for Development in cooperation with the Arab Trade Union confederation and BUSINESSMED  organized  a regional seminar under the title “The Role of Women and Youth in Social Dialogue” on Tuesday and Wednesday at 29-30 March 2022 in Beirut, Lebanon.

Lebanon - Regional Seminar on Economic & Social Issues: Role of Youth and Women in Social Dialogue

This regional seminar will host participants from youth and women coming from the 6 countries where SOLiD has been implemented to deal with socio-economic concerns. The seminar will also introduce the progress of the programme, while holding interactive sessions with experts, specialists and social partners that deal with issues of priority under social dialogue.

Call for experts to conduct a study on social dialogue practices and the involvement of the various social partners in Lebanon

Context

The first phase of thise SOLiD project was set up between 2016 and 2018 and covered three countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan).

The project resulted in the drafting of a twelve-point charter that will further be translated into concrete reforms to promote social dialogue in the countries of the South Shore of the Mediterranean.

National Capacity building workshop for Lebanese employers’ confederations

Within the framework of the second phase of the SOLiD project and to stimulate and enhance social dialogue and support the skills of the social partners, a training workshop was held on 23 and 24 September 2021 in Beirut-Lebanon with the participation of representatives of employers’ confederation such as the Association of Lebanese Industrialists and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

National Capacity building workshop for Lebanese Trade Union confederations

A SOLiD national social dialogue capacity building for Trade unions was held in Lebanon on the 21 & 22 of September 2021. The workshop gathered key actors and focused on the importance of social dialogue as a tool to achieve the 2030 SDGs. It aimed to strengthen the capacity of key trade union representatives involved in the social dialogue process and the role of the different parties in establishing effective negotiations considering the different challenges in Lebanon and adopting a gender and human rights oriented approach.
